As new findings from current excavations expand our knowledge of the city's history, a special exhibition is put together in the foyer to provide context to the knowledge gained.

Trench discovery at St. Johannisstift: An inconspicuous testimony to troubled times
In addition to a Carolingian smelting furnace and a Prussian military hospital, archaeologists have also discovered an early modern trench during the excavation at the Johannisstift. The trench appears to date back to the time of the Thirty Years' War and tells of an exciting chapter in Paderborn's history.
